Identify this pumpkin

G'day, I kept the seeds from a butternut pumpkin a couple of months ago and planted these in a dirt mound, have produced a lot of runners and plentiful fruit, question is I have the normal coloured yellow butternut pumpkin coming on and I also have another variety that has the colour of Kent but is the shape of a butternut, faster growing and much larger.

I found a couple of hybrid varieties grown in the Philippines with the same colour, mine are much larger though.

There were no seeds mixed prior to planting.

If the squash you saved seeds from was a hybrid, your plants will show characteristics of the different squash that went in to creating that hybrid. Maybe it's showing some of its heritage.

That is what I thought Linda, has to be a throwback, and coming from what I thought was normal Butternut I bought from W.W.'s.

The attached photos show the other throwbacks, the shapes are different, some are like the Butternut, but mostly like squash.

Looks like the "pumcchini" we grew a few years ago. We grew a pumpkin plant by the compost pile, where it cross-pollinated with zucchini and made a green pumpkin-shaped fruit with a non-holowed out center. It made for an interesting Jack--o-lantern!
