Caesarstone Quartz vs Granite

Hi,

I am getting my worktops redone with either a black quartz or a black granite. I came across Vanilla Noir quartz by CS recently and it looks lovely. However, doing some research so many people write negative reviews about them such as this Houzz one:

I thought I would test the tendenacy of CS quartz reported in the above link to chip by ordering some samples. The samples that came were quite generous in that they were 20mm thick. I gently knocked their edges together by raising one above the other and letting one fall a short distance (10cm ish) whilst holding it - I added no force of my own. It instantly caused multiple mini chips which more alarmingly are bright white underneath so stick out like a sore thumb on a black quartz! Are black quartz samples really only black on the top? Here is a picture of the Vanilla Noir sample I gently knocked against the other only twice:

What would people's recommendations be for granite worktops vs CS quartz?

Thanks
