This one is a joke for a friend

My husband meets his best friend every Monday for brunch. Friend is 96. They love to talk politics so I purposely stay home and let them vent to each other. One Monday my husband couldn't go and he sent me. I was polite and when he asked about quilting, I showed him some pictures on my phone. He said I make very "happy" quilts but they should have a motto on them. That's a puzzler since things on the bed don't need mottos. So, I came home and designed, and subsquently made, this little quilt. It's 20' X 30". He probably will be stunned when I give it to him and not know what to do with it but it's the effort that matters. It can come back home with us once he's seen the result.

I go with hubby Monday. I'll post his reaction for you if he shows up this week.

Lovely! I'm sure he will love it. (I wouldn't bring it back home unless he insisted, though.)

Well there's good news and bad news. He did like it and I'll put a label on the back and deliver it to him next week. He says he can probably find a spot on his wall for it. Bad news, his wife who had been in a nursing home with dementia for a long time died the week before. She hadn't known him for a long time but he was there holding her hand when she went. It was in your town, Sue, so if you see an obit for Rita Dorst, save it for me. Because of that, he wasn't nearly as joyful as he might have been but hubby and others are supporting him well. So, it's sort of a memorial quilt really.

Oh, Linda, that’s so sad! My mother in law had Alzheimer’s. It’s an awful thing.
