Make a new walkway that is the same width as the whole porch, IMO garage doors are never ideal painted a color to stand out even more than they do unless the garage doors is a nice style which is not yours. Why brown for the front door so boring.But I think painting the door the sidelight and transom all the same color would be great it also gives the door more presence.Like this but please not brown unless you get a much nice garage door in wood then the door all the same wood. BTW I really do not like walkways to the front door only from the driveway so a nice walkway from the street to that entry wouldbe great and also allow for some nice landscaping along the walkway and some new more interesting landscaping for the rest .

Thank you guys! We’re definitely going forward with leveling out the concrete, but how far do you think we should extend it out to level it? In addition would you keep the rod iron on the one side?

I do like the idea of painting the trim the same color, I’m just not sure if I want to keep the color.

Unfortunately our HOA prohibits us from doing actual wooden garage doors from some reason, and I’m not sure they’d allow us to adjust the sidewalk to the street, but we just got new white windows and are planning on painting the exterior this summer which is why we thought of making the front door and garage doors the same brown color. Your entry has a natural off center entry. The windows to the left of the door will always mess up a centered door. Try printing pictures of your entrance. Then cut and paste any poential chamges you can make and see whih if any changes are to your liking. If your objective is to make your entrance more noticeable(grand), I'd enlarge the one door both width and height.

Id leave the transom as it is a nice feature, reframe the door centered and possibly have it swing the other way. Something tells me the walkway is centered to the entire space, and also you need drainage. I do wonder if the hand rail is needed? Also I would not paint the garage doors brown. they are not a feature. try first buying the magnet kit from amazon with the black hardware and window lights.

also is there a reason you want to paint the brick? especially since you are only going one shade off? I would paint the trim, the door, add some spunk .. uggh HOA.

I cannot tell you how much I hate HOAs nad all their silly rules .

You guys have given such great feedback thank you! The first attached photo is from Zillow before we purchased the home, but in the photo the brick is a little more cream in person. In addition, the same color is used to paint the siding all around our house, and when we got new windows we went with white instead of tan (in hindsight I’m not sure what the best decision was because we wanted to change the exterior anyway). Attached is a little more accurate of what it looks like now!

Consider keeping true to the stle of your house. It's fine to update it, but don't try to change it. You can add a lovely wood toned door and/or railing. Keep a railing when you have staits! A hanging light would be prettier and more usefull in the entr inside the house.

I'd keep the inviting storybook vibe to you house. Trying to change the personality of your house will be a huge undertaking and you will never be happy with it. Add some lovely landscaping, colorful native flowers and enjoy!

I agree that you should widen the steps to the width of the porch. And the sidewalk, as well. Change out the railing and place it on the right side against the wall as you face the front door. I disagree that you need to stretch the sidewalk to the street. Why? Not all neighborhoods have sidewalks. Not all neighborhoods have curbs. Some have a ditch at the street. The reality of our lives (since the 1920s) has been that people drive. And sidewalks to driveways are the norm. You might bring the sidewalk out further into your yard, creating a bigger planting bed. Yours is a charming home with lots of potential!

The light is not anymore or less useful if its hanging, its a nice way to add a bit of whimsy and welcome.

I would not paint the brick. It then becomes a hugh maintenance expense and doesn't accomplish much. The white windows look fine with the bricks. Just do the same white on the trim. Don't paint the garage doors brown. Keep them white.

Not sure if this has been recommended yet or not (didn’t ready every single comment), but have you thought about a full-length pivot door that would encompass sidelight and transom? They are really cool and come in many variations with glass to allow light to the hallway…..custom and not super cheap, but perhaps worth it? I will post just one style as example….

What a charming house you have. I don't know what part of the country you live in. Here in So. Cal., brown garage doors absorb the sun in the summer making our garages even more hot inside. That's why you'll see so many white garage doors, regardless of the color of the rest of the house.
