Hello!

we need a new roof & eaves and we are having a hard time making a decision on color. We dont love the brick but havent committed yet to painting it (need to reasearch a bit more as we are getting mixed opinions!) the question is do we go black or do should we stick with brown as it seems to be the only option with the brick color?

open to suggestions! (windows are staying white)

IMO painting brick is the fastest way to devalue your house. I would do a brown roof to go with the brick and then spend money on really good landscaping Is that overhang and the space under the window on the right black or dark brown ? If those are black and the railing is black you could do a black roof too. If you go black IMO the front door and the garage door should, be black. So a bit more info please . Answer the questions in a comments here do not start another post .

Why is that area under the big window that deep color? Next to the bright white window trim, that dark color pops and not in a good way.

The garage door is also an odd color. If you keep the brick as-is, both the under-the-window spot and the garage door should be the same color, something to blend with the brick NOT contrast. A dull beige maybe?

Your brick is a lovely warm color, with enough variation to be interesting but not so much that it stands out. Very nice. Stick with a brown-toned roof. And I like the roof that covers the garage door and the main door -- well done.

I agree with painting garage door (maybe) and the space under the window (definately) to blend.

Whatever you do, don't paint the brick white. That would not suit your house's style, and would mark you as a "Joanna Gaines" fan, and not in a good way, since not every house looks good in white.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting thank you! its dark brown and the garage has since been painted to match under the window (so awning, garage door & siding are dark brown) - it was a quick fix that we did when we moved in as the previous color was a horrible orange/taupe. its an old house that needed lot of works so just trying to slowly get to it all

the awning is in pretty rough shape so we will likely clad(?) it to match the new eaves color.

A black or charcoal roof would suit the beige brick. I would go with black for the windows if you can paint them as well as all trim and doors. Improving the landscaping would also contribute to increased curb appeal along with large black sconces and street numbers.

Since you have brown, I think you need to stay with brown unless you repaint with white or gray. Then I think you could do gray.

^^^Agree with brown. The black doesn’t work - too clean and stark for the warm brick. Go for horizontal lines with everything you replace - the vertical rails and siding are interrupting the lines of the house.

And here's the house with white windows, trim and siding, black doors...

and with white windows, khaki doors, trim, and siding...
