I've had 12" deep in one house and 10" deep in another. Both are fine.

My pots and pans drawers have an interior space of 32”wide, and 8” deep. Works well for us.

I have 10 inches interior measurement. Works well for me.

I should clarify, my 12 " and 10" drawers are exterior measurements, from IKEA (the 12" is the old style in the kitchen we did 21 years ago.) Frameless, very small loss of height on the interior.

I think ours is 10" as well. I will say that it does not fit our stockpot without turning the lid upside down, and I wish it had half an inch more so that I could store it with the lid rightside up. (There's a handle that hits.) But that's going to be very specific to your pots--put them all on the counter and pretend you're storing them. Stack the ones you'd stack, put the lids on or off, etc. Then measure to see how high it would ideally be, and go from there.

OP asked specifically about useable drawer height, though. So factors like framed vs. frameless or undermount vs. side mount are already factored in.

Mine are 9" deep x 27" wide interior measurements.

I have a modified galley kitchen. On one side I have 3 bays of drawers. Left and right bays have top drawers 5” deep and 2 lower drawers are 11” deep. The center bay has 2 drawers 13” deep. I love the depth of all my drawers!! You can never have enough drawers in a kitchen.
