Could you add a nice large ottoman to the club chairs to make the seating feel more loungey?

I would probably have my feet up most of the time also, so a chaise would be reasonable, but I als likdd EF v the flexibility of chairs + ottoman(s), and greater likelihood of finding more options in super comfortable chairs.

Go for chairs with ottomans vs. chaises. Much more long term flexibility.

We stayed in a hotel with two chaises in the room over looking the ocean. It was heaven. No design faux pas there. If that is what will be comfortable, go for it. Sounds like a wonderful way to relax and enjoy each other's company while reading.

Those who say chair and ottoman are more practical have clearly never owned a great chaise. I have one that was my great-great aunt's. It is so comfortable. About to get it recovered again. Wish we had room for a second one.
