White is not a consideration. It will chip and get dirty.

You're talking about the threshold? What material is it? If it's oak, and your floors are oak, then treat them the same. Often the newer ones are aluminum and built up to keep water out. Definitely not white.

I just had hardwood floors installed in my Master. The installer placed white trim beneath my patio door. I had them remove it and replace it with a stained piece of wood there that was the same color as my flooring. My door is painted white, as is my trim. I see that as a piece of the floor, not the baseboard trim. I found the white trim distracting.

Same as floor for sure. Otherwise it will look weird.

More info: There is a small piece of trim that covers where the floor meets the threshold (which is black), same function as the shoe of the baseboards. I used to have carpet so that piece was stained to match the door. Now that I have hardwood I am wondering what color to make it.
