If it's traditional, I might opt for molding, like this:

The other option is that you just wallpaper or paint the ceiling and don't try to highlight the round section:

The tube is metal, the joists are wood. The tube is what supports all of the wood joists for the roof structure.

They could drywall it, but it was just an awkward circle. I’d like to make it a statement piece.

There will not be a light fixture here, it would not be centered to the kitchen.

This is a 14 sided Eagle’s Nest Home.

Given the style of the house, my personal preference would be plain plaster. But since that's not your preference, once it is complete, you can add a ceiling medallion of your choice. Have you seen examples of what you were inspired by?

IMO no medallion it takes awy from the unique shape of the space and draws your eye to it when trying to layout furniture . I think you already have a odd kitchen layout in this space and to add more confusion is not a good idea. Do a simple ceiling in plaster . IMO a fabulous ceiling light would be a much better choice but I still need to see what is going on in this odd but interesting space . I think simple is best and once you get the furniture in there then you decide what the ceiling needs if anything.

Just drywall over the tension ring. Use control joints just like with each roof plane. Because the ring does not adhere with any location or design lines with the kitchen, and since the layout and probably cabinet and material selections of the kitchen itself and all walls do not account for the unique design and roof structure, making this ring be a "statement piece" will actually be a distraction. The picture of what I assume is the prior-to-remodel kitchen looks good as the ring is unassuming.

If you don't want to put a light there because it won't be centered on the kitchen, why would you want to put something attention drawing there at all?
