Yes, use one for recycling, unless you already have a “double basket”? Do you have good tray, cutting board storage? If not, maybe put in some vertical dividers? Maybe get them to give you just a new door front that opens like a cabinet door?

If you don't need it as recycling, have a bottom and middle shelf installed and use it as a pullout for tall items like cleaning supplies.

is it wide enough to store cutting boards and cookie sheets upright? or other things that are kind of tall --like cleaning products and bottle brushes. or if you're the kind of person who likes to put their dish drying rack away on a regular basis, that's where it could go.

Rev a shelf and others sell after market pull out units that can be installed in a trash cabinet. Take a look on kitchensource.com or build.com.

You could replace the trash can that came with it, with a perforated basket or two (for air flow) and use it for potato and onion storage.

If you have pets, you could use a covered can or bin that fits for their dry food (I had a pullout designed in one of my lowers specifically for the dog and cat food bins.)

It would help to see a picture of what type of trash pullout it is.

Booze cabinet, recycle, laundry "basket" , trays, cookie sheets, the bulk purchase of paper towels, normally taking up space in a pantry or laundry. All the cleaning rags/towels at back, the need to go in laundry in front. It's a gift space. Enjoy it. It already IS a pullout. You're just using it with top access instead of front. Leave the cabinet alone : )

Is either one completely open at the top, like this?

If not, can the top part be removed? You could then use the bottom to store whatever, and add a pull-out drawer towards the top.

If the pull out is metal, you could replace with something else. Without knowing exactly what you have, we might not be giving you the best ideas.

If it has a top? Have it cut out if you don't want it.

Honestly........it's usually two nice clean plastic 13 gallon cans. Much ado/hand wring over nothing.: )

some sort of rollout for sure.....other than more cans/ recycling if you already have that need met. but I dont like the pile up of cans/ recycling in the kitchen...those get out into garage into totes for curbside pick up , pretty quick.

The cabinet box is the same as all the others in your kitchen. Instead of trying to find a use to make trash pull-out hardware/frame/platform into a non-trash cabinet, why can't you just remove the pull-out trash and remount the door slab to hinges?

I found a basket that fit in mine. Then I added a shelf made for plastic wrap, foil etc. It has 3 or 4 shelves. I put it in the basket standing on it's end. I store all of my wraps & bags in it standing on their ends. The remainder of the room holds cutting boards & other odds & ends standing upright. It is really useful space.

Ask the cabinet people for hinges for the door and two roll-out shelves that can be installed in the cabinet instead of the trash bins.

We have three identical pull outs. One for trash, one for utensils and kitchen tools, and one for foil, parchment, plastic bags, etc. Love them.

Liquor, especially the tall Vodka......
