Hi krayzie 65, Usually you would start with a piece of furniture, or a style of room you like, and the wall color is the last thing to be picked.

Without knowing any of those information I could only suggest painting the walls darker shade and also I would highlight the columns and beams of the space by painting the ceiling as well.

I like the green..maybe a little brighter.

I would paint the back part of the room a few shades darker and divide the room into two distinct seating areas. The sconces are an interesting touch. Perhaps replace them with more something more dramatic (if you can splurge, www.hubbardtonforge.com has amazing designs) and replace the overhead lighting with a couple of modern ceiling fans. If you enjoy overhead lighting, definitely install dimmers to keep guests looking radiant in the evenings. ;^)

I wouldn't divide the space up, I'd keep the color the same and I'd go with a light shade. It looks like you only get light in from that one window. Those sconces will not make it very bright. I'd keep it in the 1st three shades of a paint chip, no darker than that. Green or blue are nice shades if you want to integrate with outside. You could also go with a lovely neutral that would let you make major decorating decisions later on. I agree usually you decorate around your fabrics, furniture or rugs, so it's difficult to just randomly choose a paint color. Some thoughts: Ben Moore shaker beige for a neutral, yarmouth blue, or sweet caroline for green. Good luck :)
