Why do you consider the crapes to be unhealthy? What are their symptoms? I've been seeing a lot of scale on crapes in northern Virginia but you may have some other malady.

Remove as they are, as you said, way too close and don’t look healthy nor attractive. See how they’re trying to stretch away from the house? The roses are too close too.

Replace with nothing because it looks as though you/other resident(s) are not really interested in gardening/don’t have time/not able to garden, so I’d minimize the bed size. Or, rip everything out and replace with a few no-care smallish shrubs that will never grow taller than 3’.

This house is In Louisiana. The trees do have scales on them. The trees on this side of the road don’t look as healthy as the ones across the street.
I was leaning toward removing the trees and redoing the bed.

I'm no landscaper but your house is too pretty to hide. I agree with @littlebug, remove the trees and roses and plant low growing mounding shrubs that you don't have to worry about trimming frequently.

Since they have scale, I'd remove them. But if you remove them now, will you have any shade this summer? Fall planting works well for trees and shrubs. Can you tolerate the crapes until October?
