Master Suite design with vaulted wood ceiling

We are in the middle of a master suite reno. We are gutting two bedrooms and bathrooms and turning the space into a master suite. The two baths will become one ensuite and the spare bed will be a dressing room. The house is older and has vaulted cedar ceilings. The wood cross beams are currently painted a dark brown. The small square window in the photos will be over new tub. The double openings in bed wall lead to dressing room, they will be closed and headboard of bed will be there. We have several design hurdles in the project:
-aesthetic of the wood; do we leave the ceiling as-is throughout? Our thoughts are to leave the cedar as is, but paint the beams black. We also considered white beams but I don't think white will read quite right against the orange cedar. In the bathroom however we are considering whitewash on ceiling with white beams. Thoughts? Can the bathroom have a different ceiling than the rest of the suite?
-we have been given a free standing soaker tub that is going in the bath. The space is tight and due to joist placement and HVAC we would like to have the tub right against the wall under the window (we are making the window bigger). Is there an issue with a tub so close to the wall (that is not built in?)
- Flooring... I had my heart set on terrazzo, but at 55$/ft2 might be cost prohibitive. We had a concrete guy come and say he could do a polished concrete floor with included aggregate to get a similar look for around 17$/ft2. We also considered doing thinset concrete through the whole suite. This would require adding subfloor which we would do ourselves). Because there is so much wood in the house would love to have a very modern feel for the floors. I am also considering painting the subfloor in the bed/closet then completing those floors when we do the rest of the house. (Could be years away) The new both floor will be done now no matter what (either polished concrete or tile).
