I chose a style of pulls for the entire kitchen, that also has appliance pulls. The pulls for the SZ 42” paneled fridge are 20” end to end. The handle itself, is 18.5”.

Wouldn’t want them any larger.

I have a 36” in both my homes. Mine are 15 end to end with pull itself a little over 14. i think darbuka’s look good too but i agree with her—no bigger. i prefer smaller. I think that 32 would loom ridiculous and 24 is also

too big.

The one in the taupe kitchen is 12”.

I’m really glad to find these images. Been tossing between 12 & 18 ctc appliance pulls—hardware shop owner suggests 18; my cabinet maker suggests 12. I’m only 5’3”, and I read (somewhere?) that longer handles actually are more ergonomic for short people, as longer lengths extend the handle to a more comfortable grabbing spot. Curious if anyone feels this is true or if anyone has images of 12 inch handles on 42 in SZ French Door fridges.

Wrong thread, likely, but any advice on handle size for 30” SZ drawers? Do I go with the 1/3 rule and install 10 ctc appliance pulls or maybe 12”?

I have 30-inch SZ pulls on my paneled side-by-side 48-inch SZ 632 refrigerator/freezer. I also have an SZ pull on my Miele dishwasher panel. The Wolf hood rails have a similar design, albeit thinner diameter. Wolf wall ovens match. The cabinet pulls have similar design, scaled down.

One consideration is whether the handle is comfortable to grip by both adults and children. Significant force is needed, so elbow height gripping should be available to all.

I ordered and returned several samples (and rejected others that I saw in stores) because in person they felt skimpy and/or had a flat design that didn't feel comfortable in my hand. It was a bit harder than I anticipated to find appliance pulls that I liked (not skimpy) from a line that had cabinet pulls that I also liked in the sizes I wanted. I don't have a SZ but I used 18" C-C on my refrigerator doors and drawer and 12" on my dishwasher. (The actual end to end of the pulls is a bit longer.)

@yalemichmom I'm curious if your cabinet maker gave you a reason for suggesting 12" pulls - was it a functional reason or just an aesthetic preference?

@chicagoans (I'm a Northwest Indiana-an!)--Thank you so much for the reply and insight. After way too much time, brain power, and mock-ups (real samples and foil renditions), I've finally decided to also go for the 18" ctc Alno Creations Charlie's Collection appliance pull for FD fridge and 12" ctc for the DW (which has always been my first choice). Since the DW will have 12" pull, I'll likely stick the same on the 30" fridge/freezer drawers (though 10" is available and fits the 1/3 rule). Your advice feels right, and despite the extra cost and projection (3"--path isn't super wide), I think it's best for us, too.

I think our cabinet designer's feels it's more aesthetic and less overwhelming. He's used to 36" wide SZ's installed vs. 42". We have 9' ceilings with to-the-crown cabinetry, so that helps justify a longer pull. Attached is a a photo of the room in progress. Ladder is sitting in fridge spot.

Maybe someday I'll get lucky and have grandchildren who will visit and benefit. Both our kids live in San Diego, and we are in the Midwest. (Too far from this mama!)

Are you doing an induction stovetop? I am agonizing over whether to switch from gas to induction for health reasons. Both my husband and I like cooking on gas, but my husband has long covid, which has caused some breathing problems, so we’re wondering if our gas stove might be making his lungs even worse. It is such a big decision.

Also, your island is gorgeous! Do you have a source?

@yalemichmom Somehow I just saw this, and like @mabsy I love your rounded island and counter! Your kitchen will be so beautiful. Please post pictures when done!

(Also - my daughter went to IU in Bloomington. She had a great experience and loved it so much! I had fun being a Hoosier mom, and it's nice that they've had a good football season this year. They didn't win much while she was there, but as she said we never lost a tailgate. :) )
