I'm looking for ways to improve the overall look and functionality of our front walkway area.

Would like to refresh the concrete and add a section to make a walkway all the way down the side of the driveway. Currently when there are two cars in the driveway we have to almost walk on the grass to get to the front door.

Would like to get rid of the big step up if possible.

Would like to make the brick border look better or go with something different altogether.

Thoughts?

Good ideas. How about adding a pergola?

I would widen the planting bed around the foundation and have it curve out to meet the sidewalk. Reduce the height of the yews so that they are below the lower edge of the window. An ornamental tree out in the yard would also look good.

Don't add a pergola. If you extend the walkway, I'd do something to make it visually separate from the driveway. I'd be tempted to line it on both sides with a low-growing, pretty plant. I can't advise, as my zone is a long way away from a place where Palms grow. If you might back over the plants on the driveway side, maybe use brick.

I'd put a flowering shub at the corner by your door to hide the hose. I'd get a nicer looking sign. I'd move one of your three shrubs to the left corner and plant up that bed with stuff that flowers.

You do need to remove the 3 shrubs and re landscape the front. You need a light in the front entry way, and a pretty welcome mat (go big!). What is that black bench table thing? I would paint it a bright color (use one from the welcome mat) and don’t put flowers on it. It’s useful for setting something on it if your hands are full and you need to open the door. What is your budget? Also, the front yard and driveway are graded to let rainwater run away from the house into the street, so be aware of that if you do any major changes.

I like the idea of the broad platform/smaller steps down to the driveway. The visual simplynatural provided is really helpful!

Painting the bench (or getting a new one) and a colorful mat are easy to do.

We don't have the budget to move the door or roof, though that would look great if we could.
