Get some painters tape and tape 9x12 on the floor and then decide. The rug in the picture is too small. Don't layer it. I think I recall some suggestions on your last post using a rug that was black and it looked great

The jute should be the bottom rug as a base.

Jute would be the last fiber in my living space. Just my opinion, as far as comfort.

Angle it so it looks “casually tossed”

What are you trying to accomplish with the layering?

How do you keep chair legs from getting caight and tripping on the edge? Agree with elisejames comment.

I want to hide the carpet underneath with the layering. Without a rug on top, imo the chairs look like they are floating( pic attached). I tried black and white striped rug but with that the whole room looked too black which I didn’t like. I tried almost all the suggestions from the last time( layering cowhide, black, jute), this one looked okay color wise to me but then again it’s size seems to be very off. I just can’t seem to find the right rug😭

I like it better without the sisal rug. With the rug it makes the chairs look like a doctor's waiting room or an office. It gives me the feeling that whom ever is in those chairs are being grilled. It seems more cohesive to me with out the rug on top and a little less "the carpet is lava" feeling.

At most maybe a cowhide over the carpet I hate jute always and in this case not good at all since it looks too smal and like you tried to match the carpet and missed . Why the staggered art ? You are a designer why are you asking us a tall.

Those two rugs are not meant to float together. One or the other, not both. I would look for more caramel tones in the rug to pick up the throw pillows and art. Speaking of the art, why are they not hung level with each other? Style your coffee table and include a plant and some lamps. I agree, you have enough black in the room as it is. The chairs do seem like they don’t belong there, but it’s not because of the rug.

I see what you mean about "floating." Don't use the sisal and try putting a pillow like the two brown ones on the sofa on the chair. Or put the ones on the sofa on the chairs just to try it out and see if it pulls things together. Or maybe a light weight throw over the back of the chairs in that brownish color. I think the chairs look incomplete without some accessorizing.

I removed the rug and put those pillows on chairs. Also placed a basket in between the chairs to see how an accent table would look in between. Here’s the picture. If I sell these chairs and buy other ones, do you have any suggestions.

The pillows definitely anchor the chairs better and look nice, but not functional as I'm sure they're far too puffy to make sitting in the chairs comfortable. Are they chairs comfortable? I have short legs and it looks like they are very deep so probably wouldn't work for me but they are nice looking. If they are comfy and you want to keep them, I wonder if some kind of chair pad cushion in a color to tie things together would work. Hate to see you buy new chairs if those are comfortable.

These on the wishbone chairs are fun. Not sure they'd work for you but they don't have to be dull.

I like the basket between them. @BeverlyFLADeziner once provided a list of things every room needed. It had things on it like Greenery, metal, wood, etc. I can't find the list now but I think the basket adds one of the items she listed.

I think it would look great to replace the larger rug if you can. Here are two options from Rugs Direct. The first one is Vance and the second Theia. With the second you still could layer the jute, if that's the look you wanted. The large base rug needs to be at leat 9 x 12 I think, so you can have all the furniture and the sofa legs on the rug.

Sorry if I missed this being mentioned, but isn’t the carpet inset into the wood flooring? Not a rug on top?

If so, why not replace it with a nicer carpet? So many possibilities.

The chairs are really comfy and I liked the idea of putting some sort of chair pads. I also had the similar picture in my dump of screenshots lol. I’m renting the place and the carpet is inset into the wood flooring so no option to replace it but I LOVE the second rug in here.
