Assuming the 'flower' you're asking about is another C lancifolia plant, it would be growing from a root structure called a rhizome. Propagating: the plant clump can be divided to make additional plantings, and this should be done regularly, even if you discard the extra plants. As the pot fills with roots, it leaves little room for resources (water/nutrients/air) so the plant begins to suffer from the stress. To divide, break or cut a large clump into smaller clumps or even individual plants and pot up or discard the extras. Regular applications of fertilizer should be a regular part of your care regimen. the plant likes an evenly moist soil (never wet or soggy) and is temperamental about tolerating conditions where humidity is below 50-60% minimum. It likes filtered or dappled sunlight to shade and will only tolerate direct sun in early morning and evenings.

Hi Al, Thank you for the detailed information. I couldn't attach photos in original message but I was able to just now. I have about 40 calatheas in my home all bunched together but this rattlesnake has been in this spot it's entire life and I have had to transplant 4 times! It's a beast and beautiful and has never given me issues like the other varieties. It is in an 18 to 20 inch pot now and appears to have plenty of room with the exception of this new cluster. Now that you can see it, should I dig up this rhizome now or after it flowers? I am thrilled to see this new baby and am so happy I found you to help me! If you enlarge the picture you will be able to see it better. Thank you again for your help. I have a million questions I'd like to ask you about my other calatheas but will save them for another time!
