Does this Artwork work?

I found a water colour made by a local artist that i really like. would love thoughts on size, subject for my space over buffet. i want to keep the vase so dont want something ”fighting” with it.

Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

IMO the height of the vase and lamp already compete with where you are intending to place your artwork. I might suggest you look for a larger and more horizontal piece of artwork instead. Anything you place on the buffet should be relatively short so as to not hid artwork. Good luck!

Thank you. So more like this only slightly larger?

Use the art you love. Hang it so the top is the highest part of your arrangement and find a smaller buffet lamp.

I would use artwork that is taller than the lamp and larger, otherwise I think it will be hard to keep it from looking out of proportion. You could always try another lamp and vase, but I still think you need larger art.

If you want to keep the vase, get rid of the lamp. Don’t replace the lamp. Then the art you like might work, hung further to the left (not centered).

    I like the art, too.

Hang the art lose the lamp or the vase and I sure hope no fake flowers in thta vase . IMO keep the lamp and the art and pur frsh flowers on the table You can always get the art framed to be larger no problem I collect original art and I acutlly often use it to choose deocr colors . I would choose a really beutiful silk drape in blue and get rid of that hideous light fixture please .

I would use it somewhere else.

I agree that the piece is not the right size for the center - but, if you hang it about 1/3 on the left, and add a low bowl/tray underneath, it could work. With the current set-up, if you plan to have a lamp, it should be visually heavier, and not the same height, as your vase/flowers.

I have this picture that i bought in Santa Fe many years ago and have always liked it. would it work? Too busy with the vase? 28” square.

I think the ceiling fixture is distracting. It is trying hard to grab attention and succeeding, aided and abetted by the soffit and tall vase that are leading the eye upwards. A plain recessed light would be better and would to keep the focus on the pretty credenza and wall decor. I would try to find another place for the vase.

I like both pieces of art. I actually think the size of the vase and arrangement is the problem with both - it is too close in size to the lamp and dwarfs the paintings. Like others have said, I might try hanging it off center to the right, leave the lamp and put something lower in place of the arrangement. If you want to keep the flower arrangement there, I might have the first piece of art framed so it is larger.

And there is nothing hideous about your light. What's hideous is someone pretending to be a pro and acting like a jerk.

Why not pick a few of your fav art and do a collection over the buffet…

Few inspiration photos…you could lean a vertical mirror mixed with wall art too! Have fun!
