Consider getting the rug in living room. It will ground the space and help with coordinating pillows and other accents easier. The cream pillow doesn’t work with what’s there now. The dining chair seat color is very pretty. I’d try and bring some of that color to living room to balance. It will be lovely.

First center the sofa under the art , then choose a rug and a coffee table needs to be reachable from at least one sofa right now it is useless . You need a lot more lighting in the LR . Pillows are the last item to choose and IMO if you have to move pillows to sit down you have too many.

Start with the rug and make sure it’s big enough that each sofa sits on it at least 1/4 to half way or it will look skimpy and ungrounded. Something like this look would work w your art and adjacent dining chairs. Then, play up that tealish green blue color with pillows:

i think Leather looks best with very textural pillows so look for nubby, loopy, shaggy pillows in colors that match the rug you choose

rug will anchor the room and help create two spaces for you, I would do that first. I would not hang a mirror in your dining area. I would also get a sofa table behind the sofa so you can place some lamps and your plants there. you would be better off to do some sort of grouping tying the whole wall together.

Yes the art is fine. No one is suggesting to change it. But you do need a rug that works with it and pillows shouldn’t be chosen until you find the rug you like.

I meant to tie in with the exsisting art you have, make it one large gallery if you will. Also you dont need a new sofa. Unless you want one, in which case i would move to a sofa and two chairs.

You mentioned a rug in addition to cushions, so suggest starting with the harder/more important decision and choose a rug to complement your art and tie the room together. You would then only have to add one pillow to each couch, complementing what you have.

Before buying the rug, have you considered this arrangement (with a new chair on a slant). I think room might feel more inviting and balanced.

Would have this feel and note location of end tables and plants.

In regards to dining room, a large round black mirror to complement your chandelier and off set the art’s shape so not competing.

One other idea would be to reupholster the seats (easy to do) and room would tie in nicely with living room. Even if not updating all at once, having a plan/direction really helps when ready.
