My lawn is square, and I don't have a sprinkler system. Last year I bought a four spout sprinkler timer and covered my lawn in hose and oscillating sprinklers. They worked very good for the lawn, but not great for my house! Due to my area being windy 99% of the year, it was very difficult adjusting the sprinklers so they didn't hit my house. I failed miserably. I would make it so it wouldn't hit my house at all, but then on a non windy day it wouldn't hit like 25% of my lawn.So this year I figure I am going to switch to impact sprinklers because they are much better in the wind. My question is, for anyone that has their lawn directly against the house, how are you watering your lawn without hitting your house? Because even impact sprinklers water the house around the sprinkler itself. My second question is on slicer seeders. Last year I planted grass after aerating the lawn, and it worked well for the seed that landed in the holes, but nowhere else. This year I'm considering using a slicer seeder, or if that's the wrong term just one of the motorized seeders that drop the seed maybe 1/2" into the soil or so? Will these work pretty well for Fescue grasses? And would it allow my kids to continue using the lawn while it grows?Thanks for any help! My only idea for the water on the house problem is possibly setting up a plastic shield against the sprinkler so it doesn't hit the house and only have the stream go to maybe two feet away from the house and say the heck with that grass?
