Are you sure they didn't mean the pots were #6 plastic? I am not aware of anything being sold as a #6 sizing and I work in the industry. The manufacturers that make the containers that supply the nursery don't even produce them in that size!

Have not in person seeing listed as #6. Just doing a search and I happen to see quite a few listed with a #6 on it. The pricing sorta alludes to what a #7 would represent....and yes, I've never seen a #6 . Hence the OP - is #6 the new #7. Kinda like how 64oz juice is now 58 or 52 oz, etc....I dunno...

FWIW. Pot sizes in the same cultivar, (on the tag notation) #3, #6, #10, #15, #25 ( #15 at one nursery) (jr spec 25 at the other one today)

Did not measure or look at the capacity of the pot

Not here it isn't. And there are a LOT of wholesale growing nurseries in my neck of the woods.......

I know....I wish it was the same pricepoint here as well as it is out there. Ha, we pay the west coat to east coast trucking overhead.......

I'm not sure there is much benefit to being close to the suppliers. The west coast has a very high cost of living and we pay a pretty hefty price point as well!! And you do have some big growers on that side of the country also. Monrovia has big growing operations in both Georgia and Connecticut. Another big Japanese maple and conifer grower in GA as well.
