Run the rug lengthwise in the room. I cannot see from the photos what is happening on the wall on the RH side but I'm guessing it's windows.

What is black on the inside living room wall? Is it a piano? Can you post a photo of that side of the room?

Based on my discussions with my decorator, I think you would do better with a metal frame coffee table to contrast and lighten the room.

It looks as though the first thing you might want to do is figure out a better layout for your furniture and declutter. Once that is complete you should be able to find pieces that will work wonderfully in your room. It might be a good idea to look at some of these living room designs for ideas on coffee tables and other sofas.
