Bosch Dishwasher.

My Bosch dishwasher that I bought in January 2006 is doing weird things, so I'm looking for a new one. I looked at the new Bosch washers and, I was surprised how flimsy the racks were . They are much more substantial in this machine.

Reading the board about Bosch, the newest posts I found were from 2020. I'd be interested in anyone's experience with one bought after 2020. I'm not bothered by the issue of plastic not dry. We use very little, and the glass dries just fine if you give it a little time before emptying the dishwasher.

It goes through the whole cycle, the detergent drawer opens, but there is no water going through the sprayer arms. It stops at 1 min. To remove the standing water, I have to cancel the cycle and it pumps out the water then it will zero out.

Have a Bosch 800 series (Edited for correct model series) for about 2 years and it's awesome. No complaints at all. It is super quiet, and it cleans well. Love the top rack for utensils, etc. On the crystal dry setting for plastic I rarely have to use a dish towel. I use Seventh Generation tabs and Ecos rinse aid. We run it 3-4 times per week.

I waited a year and a half for someone to have the Bosch 800 with crystal dry in stock. I haven't looked in the last 4 months so I don't know how the supply may or may not have changed.

I had one, purchased and paid for in full, as well as the delivery and installation appt. They stood me up, no call. I called and asked where my delivery was, I could understand an emergency or delay in December but no call? I was told I would need to reschedule, as was given a date in June 2023. This was December 2022 after waiting more than a year already. My patience was gone at the l.o.n.g. delay and I asked for a refund. I visited my usual appliance vendor and bought a Kitchen Aid and its fine. He no longer stocks Bosch at all. The kitchen aid doesn't have the crystal dry feature but dries with a fan system. It doesn't have the half load cycle that was so appealing to me either, being a two person household but it does have a cycle where it washes and dries the top two racks only. A decent compromise and it overall does a nice clean job of both washing and drying - although not those plastic pieces that have edges or bottom indentations to collect rinse water.

Bosch 300-series dishwashers received "recommended" ratings by CR. There are literally thousands of reviews of them on websites. Not very many 300-series models are currently available but here are a few (in the DC area), all at $1000:

Wow, that's interesting. Our local appliance dealer had the 800 series in stock in their building vs. a regional warehouse. This was a huge plus with selecting this model. They had them in the store and it was installed in a couple of days. Same thing with our Electrolux clothes washer. But if you want to order something like a Miele, IDK how long that would take. That's great if your doing a build and can wait for it maybe.

We ordered our Bosch 800 in October 2021 and finally got it in February 2023. By far the longest wait of any of our appliances. I like it a lot but am still figuring out the best way to load it. I really like the Crystal Dry and how quiet it is.

I’ve had 2 Bosch’s, replaced an older one in 2022 and it works just as great as the previous one. I’m a big fan of the brand.

I've had a Bosch before liked, but purchased an ASKO last house. I really liked just as much if not more. CR does not test them.

Why not repair it? It's over 17 years old. I'm reluctant to spend money on something that old. Before this Bosch, I had an 11-year-old Kitchenaid that I repaired and only got another 2 years out of it before the motor burned up.

We are not going to be in this house much longer, 2 years or so. We need to downsize, so the timing for it to break isn't great. Sounds like people still like them. From reading the older posts , there seemed to be a lot of people not that happy with them. So I was wondering if they weren't as good as when I bought mine. The supply here seems to be okay. No shortages.

"We are not going to be in this house much longer, 2 years or so."

You could get the SHEM3AY55N. Bosch name, stainless steel, for $650. Also at Best Buy.

If you are only going to be there for two more years, it seems to make even more sense to repair rather than replace assuming the repair isn't more than a new dishwasher.

My dishwasher is 20 years, has been repaired a few times. I'll repair it again if the need arises and parts can be had.

The new DW clean so much better and use less water. this is important to me. We had an LG which was ok for its time, but the newer Bosch is much better. The parts could not be found for the LG because of its age, they are not supporting older models anymore.

Love my Bosch 500 with the third rack. Our home is an open floor plan, this dishwasher is very quiet, 3rd rack great for utensils, etc, and you can remove the botton utensil rack for even more room. Glad they added more fold down tines, and I love the 1/2 load cycle, and the quick cycle. Hardly ever use the sanitize or air feature. But, it was installed correctly with the drain hose higher up to avoid back draining and smells. Bosch seems to get comments about odors occasionally.

Thiis is my second BOSCH and I am very pleased. Because they are so expensive, like everything else, I clean it regularly with AFFRESH hopefully to allow it to last longer.

I would not repair. We have a set a 12 yo Fisher Paykel drawers. Love them. Recently were told one needed a new motor. It was $240 plus labor so we decided ok... eps since it has .custom front and who wants to mess with replacement? Weeks later and more fiddling and more parts.... we should have just bought a new one.

mtnrdredux_gw, I have a double-drawer F&P unit that will be 20 years in Aug 2023. It has had a few repairs, although I can DIY anything it needs so no servicer/labor costs involved. I will not buy a new dishwasher until parts are no longer available.

Trapped, have you considered that maybe the sprayer arm needs to be cleaned and the trap at the bottom of the dishwasher needs cleaning. Recently my 9 year old Bosh stopped working and my friend was saying time for a new machine. It was a simple kinked water line. Cost nothing to fix.
