If you're adding a wood ceiling, then pick a wood that echoes your porch floor. If you're not installing a wood ceiling, paint it a pale blue, a lovely custom. Lights in your inspiration photo are lovely.

Keep the porch color consistent with the house so that it's an outdoor extension of it and makes the house seem more spacious. Your porch is already a "wow."

Don't use wood for the ceiling. Do a vinyl, because the weather will wreak havoc on wood....expand, contract, buckle... And do recessed lighting..for birds looking for a nesting area those hanging pendants will look very homey.

We know have three families, one in each awning.

@elcieg Thank you! Where do you find that vinyl like in the photo? The only ones i see online are the super flexible ones with like 3 "boards" per piece.

It looks like a pretty low ceiling. If you could take it out you would have a more open and airy cathedral ceiling. Then finish it out how you want.
