I’m considering doing a site finished engineered wood floor on all three levels of our home (one level is the basement on a slab, and we also live in the southern US, so lots of humidity). We formerly had a very low grade lvp in the basement and a mixture of the typical 90s solid white and red oak on the main level and top floor. Everything was destroyed in a whole home flood from a burst pipe on the top floor, so all floors are getting replaced.

It doesn’t seem to be a very common option, but it seems like it would fit the bill of the works with my application, the stability of engineered both for climate and a slightly wider plank, but site finished to have a smoother, no bevel floor. Because it isn’t as common, I’m pretty unfamiliar with reputable places that offer this product. I’d be looking for minimum 5/8, preferably 3/4”, white oak, low character and variation, 5-8” wide (leaning towards 7). If you find somewhere with good stats (3/4”, 9-11 layers of plywood) are they all pretty much the same, or are there certain brands that standout or to stay away from? Would an installer that typically excels at site finished solid hardwood be qualified to do this, or are there additional considerations? Is it realistic to stay below $15/sqft installed? Any other comments on site finished engineered, good or bad? Y’all are always a wealth of knowledge - thanks in advance!
