Help! Carpet choice for ski condo w dog

Don't judge, but need wall to wall carpet for our stairs and bottom floor of ski condo. I've convinced my family to do hardwood on the main and top floors, but they are adamant about the cozy feeling of carpet in the bedrooms.

I like the looped carpets, but my dog makes that choice tricky.

Anyone have a brand or type of carpet that looks nice, feels good, and will last? I know it's a lot to ask!

Thank you so much. Here's a photo of our guest room that shows the carpet that's getting replaced.

Go for a low plush. Each brand has their cheaper and better carpets. You have to go by the twists, and density. When you go carpet shopping when you run you fingers through the carpet you can tell which is denser. I recommend nylon. I live in a cold weather area and a carpet lover. Most people around here that have hardwood have large rugs everywhere over their floors anyway. Carpets are warmer and cozy on the feet.

Thank you! Low plush nylon is a great recommendation. Thank you for the advice. Any brands you recommend?

Sorry, no I can't recommend any brand. I really never buy carpet for the brand. If you look on the internet, it will tell you what to look for in a good carpet.

Darn, I was hoping for a cute dog pic with this post.

A quick question for those in the know…. Dry heat, low humidity and nylon carpeting. Static??

I agree, Jan. Maybe I'll give it another try at convincing them. Long term it's the way to go!

Maybe you can help your case by finding some online videos of someone dumping out a carpet cleaner canister filled with filthy water. But, if you're trying to convince teen boys, they might not be swayed by dirt.

I like wood floors and area rugs, however they are more maintenance. First you vacuum the rug and the floor somewhat, then you have to go around the perimeter to clean the hardwood with a rag on your hands and knees. Ditto for steps. Just plan on replacing the carpeting, urine gets into hardwood too.

Sorry wall to wall even in a pristine condo in mid town is a bad choice and a ski place and dogs never . I like a nice cozy spot for feet in the morning I do not even do a rug in bedrooms I just choose nice cozy mats on either side of the bed .

ptreckel, static electricity is a norm in the winter where I live. It doesn't matter the flooring. The worst place is the grocery stores.

Maybe fuzzy Ugg slippers for everyone in lieu of the wall to wall? =)

Another vote for wood with area rugs.

Have you ever removed old wall to wall carpet? It is gross to see all the dirt trapped under there, even when you know the people who lived there kept a "clean" house.
