are my floors thick enough to refinish?

I believe my new home has the original hardwood floors (built in 1920). They've been hiding under carpet for the past 20 years so I am hoping I can refinish them. I haven't pulled the carpet yet so I can't look for nail heads but It looks like there's about about 1/4" or 1/3" of wood above the tongue. Thoughts?

Wear layer too thin, needs to be at least 3/32 thick. You are at 1/16", that's under the minimum requirement.

You can risk it. Keep in mind it will be your last sanding. You would be able to re-coat only afterwards or replace it.

As G and S says… maybe? Get a local pro in. Depends on how flat they are and their overall condition. The 1920’s had a brief moment with these very thin floors, in my area they were typically face nailed.
