Can you unearth a bulb and show us? It won't hurt the plant since it's practically dormant anyway.

Well shoot, I think she was wrong! I dug up two of them and don't see a bulb, just roots.

I hope iochroma is correct but I had the same thought as floral.

Since there's no bulb, I guess that I'll just leave the nursery pot outside and see what happens next year. I don't know if it'll come back from these roots or if it dropped seeds... or if something ate the bulbs?

If it is what I suspect it is perennial and never had a bulb, just roots.

Meanwhile, over here E helleborine is a scarce native orchid and we only wish we had more!
