After my son went to college, we removed the carpet he had ruined in his bedroom and simply filled a few cracks, cleaned it and then used porch paint on it. We did not seal it. We put an area rug down and made it into a guest room. I just damp mopped it occasionally. When we started having grandkids, we put down LVP over it and made it a playroom. The major drawback to concrete floors for us was they’re hard on knees and backs. It also wouldn’t have been good for a baby, learning to sit up, to fall backwards as they inevitably do and thunk their melon, hence the LVP with thick underlayment.
