Wall ovens do not have exhaust fans. The fan you are referring to is to cool the electronics, and they all have them.

Sometimes the cooling fan needs to be replaced we just had that done on our KA double wall ovens it was a lot cheaper than a new oven for sure .

Thank you for that. We are redoing our kitchen and I’m in the market removing from a double oven to a single, but I am really concerned about paying a lot of money and having that loud noise again. We had two different certified Viking companies out and they both said that’s normal even though it peaks at 62 to 63 dB. I am looking at Wolf, which is of course a good brand in terms of baking, but I am concerned about the noise on all the wall ovens. The fact that none of the companies seem to be transparent about this (they are transparent about dishwasher noise) reinforces my concern.

Viking is enough said. Don't buy Viking anything. Get a Bosch, Thermador, or Meile.

TBL This post is SO VERY HELPFUL! I am going to look at Frigidaire right away! And you may have saved me thousands because I have been looking at a Wolf, simply as a Hail Mary, hoping that someone on their design and engineering teams nudged them in the direction of a quieter fan even if not enough to get the marketing people to include it in their descriptions. Also, I loved and completely agree with your comment about embarrassment to modern manufacturing. If you have the time at some point, I would appreciate the model number you have or a photo of the model number, which usually is inside one of the doors. Lastly, it was really interesting to me that you switched from GE to Frigidaire because I’ve had GE’s in the past and they were great. But then they were over 20 years old so as another commenter mentioned, a lot has changed.

Lilac, I'm glad your found my experience helpful. Note that you will see good and bad reviews for all the manufacturers and some bad for these Frigidaires. It was the right compromise for me. If I could fit a 30" I would have spent more time looking at Bosch and drooling over the $8k sleek Wolf model. Since mine was not a remodel, and few last like they used to, this moderate Frigidaire Gallery was chosen. Make sure you have local authorized warranty repair nearby for the manufacturer you choose. I'm linking below to Home Depot due to many reviews and real life photos, but I purchased from a local full service dealer. When it was ordered a few months ago, the prices were the same everywhere, $2518, more now. Oddly they all fluctuate including the mid range GE which was nearly $1000 more at the time (double oven). That also affected my decision. Now it's $500 less than the current FG. Somethings I liked about the GE were the black racks that could be left in for self cleaning and the convection was 'true European'. My opinion was that the GE Profile and Cafe models, while considered upscale, seemed to be more convenience and cosmetic upgrades that were not of significant value to me. Not a fan of WIFI or all the picture driven cook modes in those. More stuff to break IMO. I recently read that the Haier/GE oven manufacturing has moved overseas but cannot verify, and I believe Frigidaire ovens are made in the US.

You might consider the CR recommended Cafe CTS70DP2NS1 (also Best Buy). A search through the reviews and Q&A for "noise" and "fan" returned two comments (out of 400) regarding the "clicking" sound the oven makes as the heating element turns on and off. No comments mentioned "fan".

Take a look at the GE Profile or Cafe Twin Flex. GE has had them on sale for awhile.

I got one two years ago & can't praise it highly enough. My Miele dishwasher is noisier than this oven -- which means I have to really listen for it. It vents lukewarm air gently -- doesn't heat up my kitchen unless I'm canning jams on a humid summer day.

Double oven versatility; excellent, even performance in baking; easy roasting with a probe; no preheat air fry is a great addition to the cooking toolbox; proofing, warming, somehow it stays cleaner than my previous ovens did. The small oven preheats to 350 F in 10 minutes & is what we use most frequently.


I've yet to run into a situation where the ovens were too small to feed a crowd, & we do entertain. Last month I fed 14 with an oven baked jambalaya made in a 10 quart turkey roaster. A 22 pound turkey fits easily. I could make 3 pans of lasagna if I wanted to.


I find the wifi useful: checking remaining time; operating the oven while lounging on the deck, or working in the yard, or while at the grocery store, or on the road, or at a park with the grandkids.


GE cooking appliances are not made overseas.
