Have you spoken to the cabinet maker? They should be able to make a recommendation.

Custom stone sinks integrated into the counter are a very very very expensive choice. You have to interview local fabricators, to see if you even have anyone capable.

It depends upon the sink. I always recommend a self-facing sink which is where the apron kisses the cabinet front instead of cutting a cabinet around an apron exactly. The Kohler Whitehaven and the Elkay Quartz Luxe are self-facing sinks.

Thank you all for your advice! We are still in the very early stages, but will need to make a decision sooner than later. I really like the look, but want to be price-conscious.

ASHTON- Your first two photos show integrated sinks (the countertop and sink as one unit), your third photo shows a drop in sink (not apron front) and your last photo shows a drop in apron front sink. When folks tell you it’s going to be VERY expensive and a highly skilled fabricator is needed - well, that is for the integrated sink option. A SS drop in apron sink with a black countertop is much easier to achieve and less costly.

I'd check with the local division of inspection before committing to a custom made integrated sink. A custom sink will unlikely come with a UPC sticker and if inspection wants one and it isn't there, he's going to apply a bright red sticker of his own.

Sorry but IMO there is only one choice for a sink in a kitchen and that is stainless and the best one you can afford and not work station either . I do not like apron front sinks but that is a personal preference . I think sinks are the most used item in the kitchen and stainless just makes sense think any commercial kitchen they all use stainless for a reason.

I've had stainless sinks and hated every one of them. I now have a DXV fireclay sink and love it. My last place also had a fireclay sink and when I last saw it in 2019 it looked as good as the day it was installed in 2010.

And why not a work station if that's what she wants? My sister had one and regrets not putting one in her new place.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting says that same refrain on this forum whenever there is a mention of an apron front sink. If I see a post even barely mentioning an apron front sink, then sure as the sun rises in the east, Patricia will be making the comment that she does not like them. But at no time did the OP here ask for people's opinions of apron front sinks.

To the OP - I unfortunately do not have experience selecting a sink apron like the 2 images you showed. I would not have responded, but wanted to come to your defense for the negative post from Patricia.
