Yoi could have instead installed a tile that looks like beadboard. The whole point of a backsplash is to protect the wall from splatter from cooking and water. It is not the backsplash that is supposed to be protected. The backsplash is the thing supposed to do the protecting.

Since the sink is right there, you could apply bandaids like oil-based paint, but it won’t provide endless protection against a sink’s water splashes. In a little while you will have to take the wet beadboard down. Perhaps replace it with tile that looks like headboard. Home Depot carries the Ivy Hill’s beadboard tile. The Tile Bar carries Vivir Panna beadboard tile. Or there are other more expensive ones available like Soho Studio Boiserie Beadboard tile. Or pick a completely different backsplash tile that is not beadboard.

Do you have enough room for a 2cm thick panel behind the sink? (Will the faucet be totally clear and operable?) If so, you could go to your local countertop fabricator that has a remnant yard and find a solid white 2cm quartz piece that they could cut to the width of the overhead cabinet and have them detail the top just like your cabinet detail (decorative notching at the upper corners) and have it be about 12” high.

That could be glued to the beadboard and then caulked with matching white silicone

I'd cut out ALL the bead board. Replace with tile. Many will retain the cottage feel : )

The whole area behind sink....OR the whole splash. Where is cook and what is behind that? What is the flooring we can't see?

Love the look of beadboard. I think M Millers advice was great. I would buy tile that looks like beadboard
