Recommendations for 30 inch induction range?

Hi all,

We're buying a 30 inch induction range and deciding between the Bertazzoni Master and Bosch 800 series. It's been difficult to find reviews for induction ranges...I've seen some complaints about customer service with Bertazzoni, and scattered mentions about loud oven fans but that seems to be true with many brands. Anyone have recommendations?

Fisher Paykel Series 9 classic is my 3rd choice.

Miele/Wolf/Thermador is more than I want to spend.

Appreciate any advice!

Bosch has the industrial 800 with knobs. I would choose Bosch.

I have an Electrolux that I love and would recommend but they no longer make the model I have.

I am looking for one also. Very difficult to make a decision on something that costs so much without being able to see and try. I want high heat burners, bridging burners, knobs, true European convection, and telescopic rack(s). Miele ticks all the boxes but no way are we paying $9K! So I need to compromise. Might give up the telescopic rack or bridging?

Cafe CHS900P2MS1 ($3500) meets all these requirements (specs).

7 months agoLooks good, too many flawsContext: I’ve had this for about ten months now and I’ve used it nearly every day. Overall: I guess I like the oven, and it certainly looks good, but there are too many flaws for something that costs this much and I can’t help but feel all of the things I like about it—speed, efficiency, safety—would be available with any high-quality induction/convection oven and are not unique to this product.- The first one that was delivered kept throwing an error any time I tried to get the oven above ~260. A tech came out, couldn’t do any thing about it, and the unit had to be replaced. - The touchscreen fogs up behind the glass when you open the oven and steam comes out. The steam also activates the touchscreen and will cancel the bake, start the warming drawer, or any number of things. The moisture behind the screen has also disabled the touchscreen altogether not allowing me to hit any of the buttons. Particularly annoying if, say, you have bread in there at 485, opening the oven cancels the bake, and the screen is disabled so I can’t turn it back on to 485. I had another technician come look at it, he had no idea what to do so he contacted the engineers at Cafe who told him, to tell me, to just put Cerama Bryte on it, which is an odd workaround for such a glaring design flaw, but I gave it a go. It did not work and this continues to drive me crazy.- Burners turn off when they get too hot or have been on too long, I don’t know what triggers the “too” here as it has been tripped as I’m searing steaks and making naan on cast irons, but also when I was cooking tilapia at the just-above-medium setting. It’s incredibly frustrating because you have to remove the pan and wait several minutes before you can use the burner again which borks any searing one might be doing. What’s the point of championing the speed and heat made possible by induction when you’re not able to actually use it? - The rubber strip sealing (see image) the line between the cooktop and the face keeps popping up and I can’t seem to make it stay in its home. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s an annoying small design quirk that I wouldn’t expect from such an expensive product.- After a bake, about six months into my using this, there appeared to be fiberglass or insulation (see image) that had blown all over the inside of the oven. I was using convection bake to make sourdough in a Dutch oven and it had been recently cleaned so it wasn’t from my food. I’m grateful my bread was safe inside the Dutch oven and didn’t get covered in the stuff. Hopefully this was a one-time thing.- I was very excited at the prospect of using a griddle with two burners, but the effect was similar to that of what I’ve seen on other electric cook tops where you end up with two hot circles instead of a more even distribution of heat (see image). I kind of expected this would happen, but hoped for something better. - The vent that runs the width along the back is a black hole for splatter and errant, flying noodles and I’m not sure how to clean it or retrieve lost items. - Discrepancies in oven temp: it says 500 but if I switch to another setting, or the bake gets cancelled from the aforementioned steam, when I reset it it will, for example, say 476. - The front left burner seems to have an internal timer for how long it will stay on the highest setting but it doesn’t have a notification letting you know, it just turns down the heat surreptitiously.LessReviewed on slymanbros.com

@dan1888 anytime any burners on my KitchenAid induction range are on for 10 minutes on Boost power, it will automatically reduce to the highest non-boost setting. It's a safety feature.

I have the LG LSE4617ST 30 Inch Slide-in Electric Induction Range (no bridged elements) which has none of the problems described above but I'm not a prolific chef like @dan1888. But the new LG LSIL6336F improves on the LSE4617ST by marking the induction elements with circles instead of crosses and replaces the up/down control (for oven temp, timer, etc.) with a 0-9 digit touchpad.

dan1888 sorry to hear your Cafe problems, steam getting behind the touch panel glass seems like a build problem, steam on front activating controls just crazy.i am guessing unlike my 2011 model Electrolux slide in yours does not exhaust the cooktop cooling air through the gap between control panel and top of oven door which would probably prevent steam on the glass. As to cooktop shutting down from a variable "too hot" scenario i'd suggest ,if you don't already, use three 2 inch circles cut from a cheap silicone baking tray liner arranged tripod fashion over each burner area to see if that eliminates that problem. Long time poster Kaseki suggested that years ago and I have done so ever since. But the oven shut down and touchpad glitch remain, have you tried to just get your money back? I know you had been cooking with gas so this must be so disappointing. My only trepidation and fear re my induction is ar 12 or so years old how long can it go on for as I am not sure parts will still be available.

violet728- as my model is no longer made my only advice re Bosch would be to try a live demonstration model to see if you can live with the multi-step cooktop burner turn on, select, adjust procedure.

I’ve had so many service calls on the Kitchen Aid 30” range, I can’t even count them. Just had another one last week. The range worked welll for 6 days then shut itself off requiring me to turn it off, then back on again at the breaker box. I was absolutely looking forward to having the capability for precision burners and a nice oven, but its NOT available with KA. I wonder if shielding between the cooktop and the oven is a problem for all manufacturers, rendering the range option unreliable.
