OTOH, I built one home where the owners insisted that all the bathrooms have identical fixtures and fittings. They were less than thrilled when I suggested it looked like a highway rest stop. Hey, they asked!

They needn't match, but the spirit of the styles should match. That is a very modern against a traditional, which does not work. Pick a single style direction.

Go to an actual plumbing supply house and have them put together a package for you. Stay away from the box store exclusives. They are not built the same as the wider professional market ones.

I have some mixing going on, because some of the "specialty" things I wanted were only offered by one brand. I also ordered accessories from a different brand in the secondary bathroom and I slightly regret it, but I had no choice as I was building during covid and the Brizo accessories were impossible to get with lead times of 6+ months.

@DeWayne We will be going with Delta, mainly for reliability and price point. I have searched the Delta website, Amazon, as well as many other vendors who carry Delta. It just so happens that the style faucet I love is carried by Home Depot. LOL There are only a very few valve/diverter styles, and that piece will be the least seen. The faucets and accessories will be easily seen, so that is why I kept with the same style for those.

@chispa I understand. Not that anything we chose is specialty, but it’s difficult when not all styles offer all pieces.

It's fine, I assume you'll have glass doors or a shower curtain in the shower so it won't even really be noticeable. I have an entirely different shower set than my sink faucets. Even different brands. All chrome and even I don't notice the difference.

When is the last time you notice someone else's plumbing fixtures did not match?

@cpartist Yes, we will have a glass shower door, and the shower fixtures will only be visible from the side. I think I’m good with it now! 😊

Stop spreading this lie. If the model number is the same, the product is the same. It doesn't matter where you buy it. Plumbing store, Home Depot, Amazon: it's all the same stuff.

My builder reached out to his plumbing guy and place he gets his plumbing supplies regarding “store exclusives” and quality/difference in Delta. Both said that used to be the case, but hasn’t been for a while… and that Delta fixtures are now all made with metal parts, not plastic, regardless of any exclusive vendor models.

They don’t need to match, but I agree the style should be consistent. The shower is very modern and the faucet,

The fixtures aren't an ideal match--as noted, one leans modern and the other traditional. But I think it's an acceptable mismatch if one is banished to a glass box.

And it does defy logic that a plumbing manufacturer would sell a crappy version of its products at the place where most people connect with their brand. That's kind of bad business. :P

@Fori I was a bit surprised that Delta would do that as well, but it seems that was what was done in the past, according to plumbing house and plumber my builder uses. Just glad that isn’t the case anymore, as it would be a shame for Delta’s image for quality and reliability at a good price point. As for the mismatch, I would normally freak out about it, but since I’ve seen several respected designers do this very thing and was happy with the end result, I know it won’t bother me.

Tell me again what is wrong with the Delta Chamberlain shower valve.
