Some softer pieces next to it to balance out the masculin?

A light coffeetable, linen sheers, airy chandelier and soft looking patterned/wool rug might do so much to sooth the strong look of the chairs.

Not knowing how everything else looks in your home, here are some examples:

Luckily with dark colors, white pops nicely. As do others. Get a soft white area rug as well as a soft white throw you can put over one of the chairs or a couch if you have one in the room. IF your husband is a ball fan...football, baseball, etc...you can always get pillows that have the colors of his favorite team to place on his chairs:-) Using the white throw or rug to balance it out. Helps if you have white trim too:-) good luck!

Thank you all so much! to add insult to blunder, he also insisted upon two end or coffee tables of dark redwood burl (more man cave looks) and we have a oriental rug that only fits in this room (out of the whole 2400 sq ft condo) and that is the flooring (it is from my grandparents, but maybe we should change that rug?) So... this is about the two large recliners? Okay... I'm not a fan of the bulky looking recliners anyway, but I can think you can work around this. Since he insists in having them, you can insist in having a lighter coloured fabric sofa. I would remove the smaller recliner. That is just dwarfed by its big brothers.

You have such a great view, but every seat n your room has its backed turned towards it. Such a shame.

I'd love to see more pictures of your room to see if we can get a much better layout for your furniture. There's also a sofa that desperately wants to be with the others, but doesn't get 'to play' ?

Oh... and the rug is beautiful.

oh the recliners are swivel recliners so that we can spin around and see the view and not have so many ottoman. So it is about the recliners and the dark leather sofas. I would like to add asian accents so thinking of getting rid of the redwood tables and adding a Noguchi lamp or two and the Noguchi coffee table that Design within reach sells. so also the sofas look at the mantle and fireplace and of course, he has a big scereen TV so that is whay they look in that direction. I will take photos lagter. . so if you a re willing I will send a few more photos.

Do you need both recliners and both sofa's?

The wooden tables will be a nice medium color with the dark recliners and the sofas in a light color. I like them. The small table looks off though, maybe you can place it in a corner with the smaller chair and ottoman?

The rug might look great with more modern and sleek sofas on it, but I would never not push anyone to get rid of a family piece, I do not know it's story and emotiaonal value. On the other hand, it is 'just material'.
But then again, better change the sofas instead of the rug.

Even a lighter brown would look better than all dark.
The color didn't turn out what I hoped it to be, but oh well.. :)

Here are a few more photos. This is the corner room of a condo on the 14th floor, very very modern. Two side of the room are windows, one side faces fireplace which also has TV above it, and fourth side faces the open flow into the kitchen. the small leather chair fits me- it is a stress less chair and I could get it in white or beige, but I heed it here. I am thinking after the comments so far, to keep the rug, get rid of the redwood burl tables and replace with Noguichi tables clear coffee house design. add more light colored pieces. I wanted to cover the sofas, but that would be strange I guess. so maybe add Noguchi lamps

Ehm... these are just more of the same photos. It would be helpful to see the rest of your living room. I do like the Noguchi table, but it will not change the look of the bulky sofas and chairs. Perhaps if we can see the rest of the room, we can give you ideas for a better layout.

How about painting the room a teal or Tiffany blue from the carpet...the tannish walls could be contributing to man cave feel.
