Too bad you did not come here before doing that driveway. Is the house brick ? IMO the house can go in many directions in style so if you love modern then go there . The issue for me is the driveway up to the entry so now that needs to be dealt with and the easy anser is fabulous landscaping to take your eye away from the parking lot look. I am not a sutter lover but maybe in this case get new shutters and you for sure need to draw attention to where the entry is so i would start with a walkway from the street to the front door at least then the entry will be obvious. My advice is to go online and check out modern exteriors with what appears to be yellow brick . See if there is something that catches your attention. I am so against painting brick IMO it instantly devalues your home .

I'm assuming the drive way goes up to the entry because it has to go into the garage, which is on the left. Personally I would do nothing to make the that huge garage door more egregious. At the moment it is almost invisible. Concentrate on the people entry, not the car entry.

Paint will go a LONG way! My first thought: grayed green on siding, pop of color playing off fence for the door (you may need to go brighter on this since it's so shaded -- I have used both Reynard and Chrysanthemum on my home/previous home; Red Cent and Rookwood Terra Cotta are others I use a lot), and a deeper green gray for the garage door to balance out roof. Copper light fixtures would look really sharp with this scheme. I would consider adding new shutters, but in a natural stained wood (think DIY) and the right size -- each shutter should be half the window width, so "if closed" would cover the window. Then just plantings -- some color like neon green and fuschia or purple (hard to advise without knowing where you live). Taller shrubs to either side of the garage window (variegated dogwood?) as I would want the plantings to start at the edge of the new driveway and curve aroudn the left. Stained planter boxes with lots of colorful flowers would look nice in front of the house windows, for sure the one to the right that is set back.

I have a concept --"Carriage House Courtyard". I searched with that prhase and found some nice elements you might use. Perimeter hedges and low walls with plant pots and vines seem the way to go. Taller plants mixed in. Decorative accents.

New lights on the garage wall on the window side at the right side and put a matching one on the front wall of the house by the entrance way again on the right side.. I don't see any house numbers but maybe some on either spot.

You have two perfect spots you address landscaping and I like dig dougs ideas but in the meantime maybe some long planters along the edge of the driveway between the garage and the tree. Put some bushes in front of the garage but not too close and also some bushes around the tree.

Who thought it was a great idea to pour a plain white driveway pad? Even coloring it would have helped its large expanse.

It's a lovely house. The simplicity of the design is nice. I'd paint the window frames and trim a darker color to make them stand out.

You need some landscaping. The obvious place to start is along the left wing. I'd plant flowering evergreens, like rhodos and azaleas. If there's a tree to move your swing to in the back, I'd do that and plant something around the base of your tree. Hostas are, IMO, kind of boring, but they're a plant it and forget it option that ought to grow just fine under your tree. I'd get some with some color, like with white or yellow splashes/stripes.

We have a lot of drivers at our house, and though our driveway is shorter than yours, it holds a lot of cars. Function first, people! The driveway NEEDS to accommodate the cars, and I think this one will.

Additionally, it is notable that the front yard is huge (by the standards of where I live in SoCal), so there is so much to work with ! This is mainly a landscape issue, with the addition of blfenton's comments about exterior lighting fixtures, numbers, etc. So much could be done with the yard! A lovely curved walkway through the grass, elevation change(s) perhaps so the yard isn't so big and flat without something to look at.

I think your house is really cute and you have room for shutters. I like them when they look like they could be operable (or even better: are operable).

Celery's render....Those plants are a nice screen and friendly to car doors lol. That lawn pattern is so inviting to the front door.

I noticed the white concrete as well. You can diy a concrete stain with a regular garden sprayer. Just make sure to use a random pattern. It's a stain not paint so if you spray in parallel sweeps it shows though...you want mottled, and two coats for coverage. We did it it's easy and looks good. Get some groundcover that will grow over it a little bit and soften the edges.

There are some great ideas here and I think the biggest improvement will be landscaping. You might look at midcentury modern exteriors and take some elements from pictures you like as well - small things like lights, shutters, house numbers, railings, etc.
