Cantaloupe plant just missing from its spot

I had a Lilliput cantaloupe plant about 4" high growing in a raised cedar bed. This morning, it's just GONE. The second Lilliput plant is still there, a couple of feet away. The yard is fenced and additionally fenced with Dig Defense to prevent any burrowing under the white vinyl privacy fence. Could a bird have nabbed the plant and carried it off? It wasn't even flowering yet.

Small rabbt got through the fence? Whole small plants, for me, has always been rabbits. I set motion cameras out and get pics. Rabbits fit through SMALL holes if they want. Got a corn stalk hut last night.

I could imagine some critter or person wanting the melon, but no the plant…. unless a gopher pulled the whole thing into the ground to munch on at-will.

Do you own a dog or cat that likes to play practical jokes ;-) .......but seriously I'm stumped. I could take a better guess at it if you could describe the damage. Like, was it pulled out of the ground and left a hole, was it was snapped off at ground level, was a stem/stub leftover with chew marks, or something else?
