Perhaps you sre asking about its form. it does not grow upright into a woody small bush like culinary oregano. it becomes a mound with trailing stems. maybe you can find a photo on line of an older specimen

And, of course, the flowers are totally different from other Oreganos. That's the main reason people grow it.

Mine also died, not over the winter but due to excess moisture and summer humidity maybe? The form was nice, but not at all like the mounded form of golden oregano, and not nearly as full. I loved the blooms, and if I end up with a sloped rock garden in my yard I would definitely try it again.

Oh yes, you reminded me that yes, I had planted this last year in my garden. Looked really great too! Of course, this year it is nowhere to be found this year…

I had it long ago. I have a vague idea that it came back after one mild winter, but I am not even sure. I think it would need better drainage than in my heavy clay, though it was growing on a little mound. And probably milder winters. I am in the equivalent of USDA zone 5.

@mxk3 - I’m not sure why it didn’t come back. I put it in my postage-sized front garden, which gets more sun, but also is right against the sidewalk so may be prone to more salt runoff with our icy winters. But I think anything in my garden has to contend with heavy competition as I literally cram things in there, so if it has a need for space, that may also be a factor. It could be that a small drift of it is still there, but also drowned out by the mass of Japanese anemones which are there!

I have had it in Z5 for probably 8-9 years and it has been coming back. I cant say that it’s expanding in footprint, but I dont exactly have it in all that great a spot I think. Just one of thse things I havent gotten around to moving……
