Hi– thanks. I should have included that he told us this before we even picked our slabs.

We have quartzite (a macaubus variety) and our fabricator recommended against any ”sharp” edge profiles. We went with a slight eased edge that was less rounded than what he recommended. He warned that chipping down the road was a high potential with this stone, made worse by the sharper edge profiles. After 18 months, we have one tiny, not visible to the eye, chip that you can feel when you run your finger along the underside. So yes, he was correct that chipping can occur with the profile we selected. I imagine it would be far worse with 45 degree mitered. We have no regrets though. Our quartzite is everything we wanted and has been bullet proof so far. 100% would pick it again.

Yes, a sharp 45 degree edge will be prone to chipping during fabrication, installation and usage.

He has warned you that he doesn't want, or like, to do this mitered edge and will not be responsible for it. Why should he take on the cost of replacement if a slab is damaged due to a fragile material? You either use someone else or agree to the terms of his contract. You have choices.

Any fabricator will warn you about that, and have a disclaimer. He can’t be responsible for how you well or how badly you treat your counters. That end result is on you.

Cambria is guaranteed not to chip.

@HU-79835522 I stated that incorrectly. Cambria will repair for free any chips (or any other damage excluding heat damage).

This guy is a poor businessman and thinks he's a lawyer. When will these idiot fabricators learn that you can't waiver yourself out of trouble? If you can't do it, you tell the customer "No, we're not doing that." You have to save customers from themselves sometimes.

You post a review with his chippy edges and he posts his waiver as a rebuttal. Yeah, right.
