PROBLEM WITH NEWLY INSTALLED ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOORS

Hello
We just moved into a newly constructed home
We had opted for engineered hardwood floors and now after moving we are noticing lot of dents, scratches, chipping, splintering etc on the floor.
The texture of the floor is also not uniform. Some boards are smooth and some others are rough with lot of deep ridges that might potentially start splintering in the future.
Is this normal? We are very disappointed with the flooring especially since we spent a lot of money on it.

Those are not manufacturing defects. These issues may have happened during or after installation. The first two photos looks like someone dropped something on it. The third one is installer damaged the corner during install. The last photo, anything could have happenned there.

Engineered flooring is only as hard as the core it is glued to. A soft wood core will allow it to dent easily.

I had the same problem. I called the mfg and they sent me a repair kit w/some putty. Perhaps that might help the dents.

The manufacturer typically fill in all of their defects with an exact match or a contrasting color to add to the overall wood look of the floor. They do this especially around knots. That being said the damage was likely done during or after install. The solution here would be to contact the manufacturer and request a wood filler or patch kit for that model. If they do not provide that you can get a colored wood filler from Sherwin Williams / Home Depot / Lowes and do the repair that way. If the damage cannot be repaired you can remove that panel and replace it with an undamaged one.
