help with hardwired bedside reading lamps

Hi!

I am looking for hardwired bedside reading lamps that would work with the placement of existing wiring and switches in our new home.

The former owners clearly had some and took them before putting the house on market, but left the wiring and a kind of metal plate covering where they used to be attached.

You can see in the staging photos that the lights were hung fairly high and must have some kind of telescoping arm in height and reach to work as a reading light.

There are switches for these on the wall just next to the bedside table which I would like to use with the in wall wiring, thus looking for a hardwired not plug in solution.

Any suggestions?

At $712 each ^^ is a bit expensive. Or you could go cheap with these Home Depot lights (which can be hardwired though they include a cord) at $115 for the pair:

You stated that these are staging photos. I think the type of lighting will depend on your decor. Do you have photos of your furniture in the space?

Have an electrician test to make sure the wires are live before buying anything. Also test to see that they can be operated by the light switch, if not, you need lamps with their own on/off switch.

You don't need to pay an electrician for this. Remove the cover plates with a screwdriver and check for power with a cheap voltage tester (if you don't have one) or volt meter. Measure the size of the box to determine what kind of fixture you can attach. For example, you can probably attach a swing arm sconce (examples) to a 3-1/2" round electrical box such as this this Raco 296 box.

Good ideas on making sure the wiring is live!! We are still in the remodel phase so I don’t have the furniture in the room yet.
