One of the plants now growing in my New Garden has been growing in the same place for the Lord only knows how long - up to 100 years. That place used to be at the edge of a clearing inside of a giant bush of another sort, but when we took the giant bush out to make space for the New Garden we left it. It has improved a LOT with sun and water. A couple of years ago I got a real ID for it on here, but have of course lost the data. Below are photos of the entire bush (which is blooming now), and closer ones of part of it and of closed and open buds and one of an open flower. If anyone can tell me the correct name of this I would be very appreciative. The open blooms have hard dry petals, and could be used in a dry flower arrangement.
