No space between cabinets and hood looks cramped, and makes it hard to clean the backsplash. 12" of space between the hood is pretty gappy. Make it a 42" hood (better for hood function), give yourself 3" to 6" of clearance, and make 33" cabinets slightly wider. The end of an upper cabinet doesn't need to line up with the ends of a lower cabinet.

With for me.

I would do 36" double cabinets on both sides only and hood or 30" double cabinets on both sides with bigger hood.

I would use less, there is already a lot of doors and drawers going on there :-)

My vote is NO CHIMNEY HOOD style....and whatever you do, make the hood 6" wider than the range/cooktoop. I prefer a "canopy" hood in matching cabinetry or in stainless steel.

In my personal home, I got a clearance model (stainless steel 54" wide!) for $400.

Agree…no chimney style hood. They’re usually flat bottomed and inefective…and rarely look good.

Personally like the minimal size of the SS hood you chose. Some of these suggestions are just too large for the space. In my last kitchen, space and storage limited. Looks like you have a bit more space. I would suggest shrinking down the 30" cabinet to a 24" and bumping up the 15" cabinets to a 18" if that is possible. I had mine tight like you showed and I cook a lot, the steam from the big stock pots got into the edge of the panels and blew open the edge a little. Before I sold the home I swapped out the panel. Should have been warranted but they refused. I also didn't use the exhaust as much as I should have, cause rather cook in silence. Good luck with your project.
