Should I have kitchen cabinets professionally painted?
Should I change hardware?
How to make the space not so dated?
Best wall color for current kitchen situation?

I’m not a pro but the cabinets look a bit low relative to the ceiling. I wonder if putting some minimal decorative objects up there could help visually shrink the gap—nothing cluttered, but something like baskets or nice pottery. I do think a coat of paint would also be a good refresh

Hi Andy, I absolutely love the cabinets, I think they’re very nice and look like they were quite costly. Certainly paint is the most reasonable thing to do and it really looks best if they were sprayed. I have some other ideas so please reach out when you have a moment. There’s no charge for initial advise :-). Darren

My cabinets did not go all the way to ceiling height, so I had my cabinet maker to remove the molding on top and add cabinets to the top of them that went to ceiling height. He then put crown molding that just looked like a continuous run of current crown mold already around ceiling. I then had them all sprayed so paint would look exactly the same. Adding the cabinets to the top made so much difference and look just beautiful.

I would paint the walls a warm white so the cabs blend in -

show the L side as far as lower corner situation. [cant see it] hard to tell what is the most worthwhile thing to do. Because of two sides.....the range area and ....opposite that with the L ......I would consider the base cabinets on one side or the other to get replaced because you'd want drawers to improve things. Where is the sink anyway.....there may be a better layout.........give yourself time to evaluate all options .

What budget is friendly to you? Wall paint will be the lowest cost refresh, adding top cabinets, new backsplash, countertops and cabinet paint much more costly, but still less than moving appliances.

Minimally--paint the walls. The cabinets are a warm white and the floors are also a lovely warm color; the cold gray wall color doesn't fit.

Paint the walls and perhaps switch out the cabinet hardware to something more updated.

IMO the cabinets are a very specific style is that your style ? Is this a new to you space ? Having cabinets painter is expensive and IMO never going to make a kitchen better if the space does not function for you. If a new space not one thing done until you live and use that sapce for a min. of 3 months and usually 6 is better . Change the light bulbs to LED 4000K that will brighten up the space and a really cheap change. For me the space is small and those cabinets not going to the ceiling is a huge waste of space so you need to figure if this is the kitchen you love.
