Let it stand on it’s own. I think using vase filler, glass floats etc. takes away from the uniqueness.

The first question, leave or fill will be an easier decision after you try a few different items. It will also provide you with a better idea on size, style and quantity as each bowl‘s needs are unique and yours might be harder to figure out given how strong its design and the large/shape of its surface. Less can be more.

I love large decorative bowls (have 4 around the house) and approach differently based on their feel and the look I’m after. One is left empty, as I want the bowl to be appreciated.

The bowl looks fine empty. i wouldn’t search for “a something“ to fill it, but if one day you do come across a thing that does truly call you then choose that. Especially while you are wanting a rug and other major items this could wait.

Great points maureen . The second bowl i would leave emoty , as the inside has a pretty color wash. youre right in thet each should be approached differently. Makes perfect sense .

lisaam - agreed. since i am searching for a rig and art, ii do like to have ideas in my head for other things I may need, so if I happen to come across them, i can try it out. Exanple- I knew I needed a bold centerpiece for my sofa table. I was in the store looking for a rug , and I saw this. I left with the bowl, and still no rug. 😂

there is no urgency on this; I jist like to have ideas on my radar. I find the perfect things when i am not looking for it!! LOL

i found it at home goods and the manufacturer is Three Hands. There is no item name or design name on it.

i have looked online- three hands website, home goods website general google search- and I dont see it anywhere. i found it yesterday, it was the only one. it was just put out. Perhaps they will be getting more . That happens there a lot- you see one item and then a few days later, they get more pieces in the collection. I am in NY, so id keep an eye out at your local home goods now and in the coming weeks

Empty. Think of it as sculpture. Anything you put in here will detract from the bowl itself.

It doesn't need to be full or empty,

I might just casually drape some stringed pink pearls in the bottom and place a 3 or 5 pink wood or silk flowers on one end, depending on how they fit. Just enough to add a bit of color and interest. You can always cut down the length of pearls in a necklace if it is too much and drop the rest into a champagne flute somewhere else in the room or next room.

The pink would tie to the pink pillows on the sofa (unless that is an internet photo issue and they are not really pink).

Wood flowers are great for adding a few drops of essential oils for fragrance as you enter your home.

Beautiful bowl!! Some succulents would look nice in your bowl. They don’t have to have much water or soil so they could be planted in there. It would add some greenery to your room, without being too much!! Whatever you do it will be beautiful!!

Memebrrs are trying tio be kind and helpful with their suggestions. Not every suggesrion will work. Just because an idea is tried, that doesnt mean the bowl is ruined. No one recommended to try anything permanent like painting it, or physically altering it in some way If an idea is tried and it doesn't work out, it is simply removed and no harm done.

If I had this piece on an eye level shelf I would not put anything in it, but it is sitting at waist level where the view isn't of the sides, but from above.

It is a pretty piece, but it is not a $1200 sculpture, which most of us wouldn't display somewhere that it could so easily be knocked down and broken.

The picture posted above is from South Africa, so you have to convert Rand to US Dollars

I think it looks good on its own due to the sculptural quality of the piece. I don’t think it needs anything added.

i was at another home store looking for something for the wall of my entry and found some things to bring home to try and mock up to see how it looks.

i just grabbed a floral arrangement from my kitchen and a random frame as a skze/ space visual.

Move the bowl to one side and arrange the orbs on the other side. Nothing but the bowl and the orbs.

I think I remember and can see from your stools that you are way into symmetry, lol. This probably won't work for you, then. But I'd move the orbs a tiny bit to the left and a bit closer together.

😂 off centered - uneven things annoy me . . i probably would have gotten 2 stools anyway for looks, LOL , , but i really got 2 for extra seating for when company comes, and putting our feet up when sitting in LR..

i will move the orbs over.

I wont write off the idea though. I will let it be for a few days and see how I like it No damage done- just playing around to see what works.

The orbs are too big, the smaller textured fill looked better, but again, I will say, you don't need to completely fill the space inside the bowl.

I'm not liking any of the orbs. If you want to fill it with something, then something small, sparce, & with color. something that doesn't go above the rim. (flower buds or petals, real or fake candy, sea glass?)

I also like it with nothing and the small blue flower arrangement next to it. (with nothing on the other side)

I would leave it empty sometimes and something in it when the mood moves you. If I found a beautiful bird I might put it in and spring. I like the idea of change and surprises and a bit of whimsy. But I am not a minimalist.

all good suggestions , and it seems empty is the preferred look. i like the seasonal idea - sometimes add things, otherwise majority empty. But when adding things, something delicate and small. I appreciate the opinions and brainstorming!!

The table does not need orbs, pearls, glass shards, nor a plant. If the bowl remains on the console? Add a lamp at most. Or a tall and very SIMPLE sculpture.

Otherwise? The bowl needs a different home, where you will not feel the urge to fill it, nor fill up the negative area around that bowl.

You bought the bowl, because it was lovely all by ITSELF. Design is editing.

Yes, i love the bowl and it is staying where it is. There also isn’t an “ urge” for anything. not everthing is so cut amd dry . Asking questions is how I learn and hearing suggestions is somerhing I am open to. I enjoy the sharing of ideas and looking at all options , even if the end result means that the bowl stands alone. i appreciate everyone walking through this with me ; you are helpful

It’s lovely, on its own. You may want to put different seasonal things, like sea shells during the summer or ornaments at Christmas. Try different stuff and change it out when your room needs some seasonal color/ texture.

Agree with Jan Moyer. That bowl is art and needs nothing more.

One possible exception might be for a holiday or special day if there is a small item that fits within the bowl has some special meaning to you and/or prompts a pleasant memory when you look at it and you are wanting to "frame" temporarily because it prompts you to smile. Did you go to the Olympics or to a class reunion at your alma matter or to a sporting event of your favorite team or a wedding or other family/friend event and have a small tangible souvenir -- you could rest it there for a few days to keep the happy memory fresh at least until you decide where you want to permanently display or store the item.

Your home, however, should reflect you so, if it being empty most or all of the time truly bothers you, consider your own interests and hobbies and memories -- don't just put something there to take up space. Make anything you put there either be useful and/or have meaning for you. Do you just drop your sunglasses anywhere when you come indoors and need a convenient place to put them. Do you have something that belonged to a family member who is longer with you -- perhaps the eyeglasses of a parent or grandparent. Do you sew and have a pin cushion that is more than just that -- one that's an interesting shape, perhaps a gift from the person that taught you to sew. Do you usually keep something scented in the room that is or can be placed into a small fabric cover -- a tiny scented pillow. Did you save a bow from a gift because of the beauty of the bow and/or the affection for the one that gave it to you.

Keep it to an odd number, 3 or 5. Here's a photo image but I think there are too many in that bowl for your purposes...

I think seasonally it could be filled. Perhaps with a fat white candle and some ribbon or natural pieces around the candle. Alternatively if you do use the orbs I would use a thin tall white candle in a holder and the orbs around it. It's nice to have change but the bowl is very sculptural nice as it is.

The shells worked very well as they are an elegant natural item.

I like something organic in it, like the shells. I think variations in colors of shells would be pretty. I think medium size shells would work.

I agree that it is very pretty empty but could easily be changed seasonally. i would prefer to use ” real ” things such as pinecones, seashells, interesting stones, Hershey Kisses….

I know this is an old post…but just thinking. I think fake ( or real if you prefer) green apples would be really pretty in there and would add a little pop of color.
