First blooms on July 1

I had a few more daylilies open first blooms today, these arent too bad……some first blooms have been ugly this season. First For Solar Blast and Destined to See.

This is the best bloom on Wanda Lou Lovely, not having a great season here.

Get R Done and Free Wheelin were absolutely huge today. Free Wheelin was 11”.

Mary Todd started a few days ago. Scapes are a bit shorter. This was my first daylily, 30 years this season…..gotta keep it ……..my clump is huge. It borders a bed in my front yard.

Wanda Lou Lovely is my favorite. Does it usually do better for you Sherry?......... I grew Mary Todd years ago. I had to let her go because of down sizing, but I really hated to. If I wasn't space challenged I'd have her back. Loved those trumpet shaped blooms and, of course, the color (being a yellow fan)................Maryl

Wanda Lou Lovely is lovely, even if her season is ”off”. Get R Done and Free Wheelin are eye catchers, especially Free Wheelin with the butterfly weed in full bloom behind it.

You have some beautiful bloom pics. I know what you mean about some daylily blooms not being good. I like the orange (?) flowers with Free Wheelin. A nice backdrop to highlight the bloom. Get R Done looks huge. as does Wanda Lou Lovely. I know its been awhile since your surgery so hope your feeling more like yourself.

Lovely Sherry. I like Free Wheelin with the butterfly weed. Wanda Lou Lovely is a beautiful color. And, Git 'R Done does just that.

Like Kay, I like the combo of Free Wheelin and the butterfly weed. Mary Todd is bright and beautiful - a classic that never goes out of style.

Yes Maryl, Wanda ususally does better, that goes for several this season. Like everyone else some shorter scapes and lower-bud count. Then there are a few doing better than usual.
