Bathroom colour help.

So I've been painting my new apartment, and wanted to get a good subtle colour scheme going on, but have been having issues with my bathroom colours.

I've attached photos of the bathroom, along with the rest of my place, and the colder blues really clash with the warmer tones in the other rooms -- makes the bathroom feel very overwhelming.

I was wondering what colour choice would work better. I'm thinking of maybe doing a darker spice orange + white, sort of like the other rooms where the orange would be an accent. Thanks!

You just need to go into the whites a bit more for the wall color. The blue ceiling is beautiful - don't change it! If you take the paint chip back into the store, or even look at the strip to find its lighter color, you will want something that's aboutm3 shades lighter than what you have on the ceiling. Maybe even four. It will look almost white on the chip but the darker lighting in the bathroom will bring out the blue tint in it. I have painted walls that, on the chip, look like they should be coming out grey but I always can see the color once its up there. I've learned over the years to go a little lighter than what you think will be just right.

I wouldn't do orange in the bathroom - I think it would be pretty jarring in that small space, and maybe not what you want to see first thing in the morning when you can barely get your eyes to open!

This is another angle of the bathroom. I still like the idea of painting the ceiling to give the room some more verticality, but the blue was way more saturated than I thought it would be.

Thanks kare! I think I'll head back today and paint the walls a whiter tone and see how I feel. I did the ceiling first and was enjoying the colour, it was just when I started the walls that I began to get really frustrated. I've actually been looking at some orange coloured bathroom ideas, and I agree that I could be pretty jarring.

And thank you! I had a lot of a fun with the colour choices in the other rooms, the green is my absolute favourite, really energetic.

What about pale yellow ceiling and the dark grey/blue wall? You will feel closed in with the ceiling that blue color.

Hey, why didn't we think of possibly leaving the ceiling, painting some blue accents in (the mirror frame, same as the ceiling) and then using some orange accents in towels etc to complement the blue? then again, the blue is really jarring in real life...hmmm

HI -- I think a nice color for you is "Horizon" by Benjamin Moore or " Misty Air " or look at the color at Restoration Hardware , their colors are just beautiful .
