Hi Jared, if you’re building knew I would think the lentils would be super easy for your framer. Also If you’re going to stucco, the stucco contractor could certainly roll right up to it (with metal flashing) and that’s what would actually touch the wood. Wood on concrete directly doesn’t mix well, mold and wood rot.
Actually you can use the header (that is going to be installed by the framer) above the window anyway.
So basically, you can put it all together very inexpensively :-)

Think honesty in design and forego the wood fake lintels.

Pretty...but I would definitely see if you can find an engineered product with the look of wood.

That is a recipe for moisture damage.

Our house in southern CA had real wood lintels, but I don't believe they were structural.

We built in FL in 2021 using block wall construction, so not so easy to make a recessed pocket to add a lintel. The solution here is to add lightweight precast cement lintels over the stucco. We used them and they look good to create the overall look I wanted for the house. I also had the underside of the stucco painted to blend in with the lintel and make it appear as a larger solid piece.

I'm not trying to fool anyone, just create a simple design detail, no different than adding rafter tails, shutters or boxed ceiling beams. "Honesty in design" sounds great, but it isn't a reality in many geographic areas, even when one is willing to spend more money on it. The trades/craftsmen to execute that "honesty" just aren't available.
