We removed ours for the same reason, about 10 years ago, and never looked back. We replaced our windows last year and did not consider window panes. I love the simple look and easy cleaning. Are you replacing your window treatments inside the home as well? I ask b/c blinds, plantation shutters or drapes will give a new look to your windows as well. Presently it looks like you have flat blinds?

I always think a colonial should have true divided light windows but at the very least simulated divide light works.

Yes, we will be replacing the inside window treatments as well. In our Minnesota climate, we’re going for energy efficiency

I would NEVER do TDL when SDL are an option. To be frank, no reason to not go with GBG unless it's a personal choice.

I’m personally partial to 6 over 1s (grids on upper half of double-hungs but not the lower sash), but your home looks good & certainly doesn’t need more grids/panes, esp if you prefer more unobstructed views of your current windows.
