Heatock is great but is mire prone to condensation. Smartsun is typically used in sothernn locations. In the north Smartsun may be preferred for rooms with lots of glass and western faced windows to prevent overheating.

Low-E 4 is the safe all around glass fir the North. Triple pane is wirth considering but is not svailable in all if Andersens products.

Agree with Todd that Low-E4 sounds like the generic choice where you are.

If you have generous roof overhangs you might also look at Passive sun as an option on south facing windows if you want more solar heat gain during the winter, but never for west facing windows or even southern facing if you have a wall of glass or no overhangs or trees shading the windows in summer.

Triple pane might be a good option as well, as Todd said.

"northern climate" isn't quite descriptive enough. I get that people don't want to give their address on a forum but more descriptive is better. And it isn't just zip code, it is elevation. There is a big difference between CO at 10,000 feet vs Vermont at 2,000 feet - looking at a mountain.

I would consider low e4 a minimum for somewhere near skiing with strong consideration for triple pane. I live in NC at 500 feet elevation with U value 0.25 windows. Code is what the builders are forced to put in the worst house - it is not a standard that you should be okay with.

A better reference on climate location would be helpful to make an appropriate recommendation.
